General requirements

  • Age - You must be 18 years of age or older to be issued a license.
  • Residence - Proof of Legal Presence in the United States is required. If you are not a California resident, see Out-of-State Applicants.
  • Honesty - Applicants must be honest and truthful
  • Education - Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for a real estate salesperson examination:
    1. Real Estate Principles 1523-94
    2. Real Estate Practice 2410-06
    3. One course from the following list:
    1. Real Estate Appraisal 2383-06
    2. Property Management 3008-08
    3. Real Estate Finance 2011-04
    4. Real Estate Economics 3228-10
    5. Legal Aspects of Real Estate 3192-10
    6. Real Estate Office Administration 3166-09
    7. General Accounting
    8. Business Law
    9. Escrows 1670-97
    10. Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending
    11. Computer Applications in Real Estate
    12. Common Interest Developments
