Introduction to Photovoltaic Systems Course
Allied’s Introduction to Photovoltaic Systems is the starting point for a career in solar electric technology. You'll develop basic trade knowledge of photovoltaic systems based on the learning objectives of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Entry Level Exam. The applications and benefits of PV are explored, along with the workings of all typical components and methodologies for design of whole systems.
Upon completion of the course, you'll be prepared to take the NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam.
Successful Entry Level PV test takers will be presented with a suitable-for-framing Passing Score Achievement document. The document clearly articulates that the recipient has demonstrated their basic knowledge of the principals of the application, design, installation and operation of off-grid and grid-tie solar electric systems.
The course serves as a gateway to an opportunity as an apprentice or assistant PV installer. It is an essential first step for a career as a photovoltaics (PV) systems installer – if you choose to pursue a career as an installer, you will need additional training and certification. Allied's Introduction to Photovoltaic Systems course is also an ideal complement for an existing career, from office assistant to project manager. The knowledge learned in this course can be applied to a number of careers in a number of capacities.
The career opportunities in PV technology are abundant. Due to growing demand for clean energy sources, the manufacture of solar photovoltaic systems has increased dramatically in recent years – in fact, solar power is leading the way in today's green economy. Make your mark in the solar PV industry!
- Photovoltaic production has been doubling every two years, increasing by an average of 48 percent each year since 1992, making it the world's fastest-growing technology
- At the end of 2008, the cumulative global PV installations reached 15,200 megawatts
