You must fulfill educational requirements and meet NABCEP work experience requirements in order to qualify to take the PV Installer certification examination.

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Establish suitable locations for PV array, balance of system and other system components
  • Identify all hazards (electrical or otherwise) associated with PV installations
  • Figure out the appropriate size, ratings, and locations for all system over current and disconnect devices, grounding, surge suppression, and associated equipment
  • Assemble/install subsystems and components and provide required labels on electrical hardware and wiring
  • Program, adjust, and/or configure inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes
  • Recognize steps, tools and deliverables of site assessment
  • Pinpoint and select appropriate system designs/configurations, major components, and BOS equipment
  • Estimate sizing requirements, time, sequence of installation, materials, and equipment required for installation
  • Determine the electrical design that is within acceptable operating limits for power conditioning equipment
